My name is Nicola, and I am passionate about helping Little Learners gain confidence with writing. I am married with 2 teenage boys, and as a stay-at-home mum I have been fortunate to help as a Parent Volunteer in the Elementary School they both attended. This was a great way to be involved in their education, and an opportunity for me to give back to our community. It was at their school where I volunteered as the Lead Coach of the Hand Writing Without Tears Program.

I began this program in 2012 at Ethel Gardiner Public School, where I had 10 students that I worked with in smaller groups at a time. Over the years, the program grew to about 60+ students during the school year and allowed me to build lasting relationships with the children, whilst helping them learn. As a mum, I have been active on parent councils as well as the Halton Hills School Community Council. I'm active and involved in various local community initiatives and fundraisers. Instructing and providing learning strategies for children is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever been a part of. Knowing that the work I do, and the relationships I foster, have a direct impact on the lives in my community makes each day more rewarding than the last.

I recognized firsthand the ongoing need to help support both the printing and reading for our Little Learners. I continued offering the program from my home for families in the community.
