Feeling like your child is behind is stressful. Wondering if they are getting the attention and support they need in school is frustrating.

I get it. I’m a Mum too. I experienced this with my own boys and with many other families.

Learning to read and print is an ongoing life skill. It begins in the early primary years when you are setting children up for success as they journey through school and beyond.

We know that children learn and focus better when they have someone else to help and support them. I’m here to help.

I have 10 years of experience running this program in the school and now from my home. I’m passionate about teaching and supporting children with:

  • Printing and recognizing letters

  • Writing words and sentences

  • Reading as the two go hand in hand

Your child will be so proud of themself as they improve and gain confidence in these important skills.

What People Say

"I have had the good fortune of working with Nicola Gauntley in order to support students in our community. She has always been a very active parent volunteer, who worked with me to plan and implement a handwriting program to support younger students. On her own initiative, she invested countless hours of her own time in order to organize and recruit other parent volunteers and create a parent-led handwriting program. This program supported struggling students from Kindergarten to Grade 2. Students really enjoyed going to these handwriting sessions as Nicola and her team created a fun and inspiring learning environment. The handwriting program was often a positive talking point between parents and teachers during interviews. I have great respect for Nicola and the dedication she continues to show in support of students."

Details about the Little Learners Program

The Little Learners program runs in 10-week blocks in tandem with the school year. There are no program sessions on PA Days and/or during school breaks. Each session is 30 minutes long. You can register your child(ren) for 1 or 2 sessions a week. Sessions are weekly because repetition and consistency are very important when developing this skill.

Each session has 4-6 children in the same age group. Our age groups are Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2, and Grades 3 & 4. They are given their own workbook and activity materials to work through. We utilize the Learning Without Tears workbooks and other resources. Each week your child(ren) will be encouraged to read regularly as reading and writing go hand in hand.

During the program, I provide a balance between structure so your child focuses and fun so they are excited to learn each week. Your child will receive exciting rewards and recognition as they progress through their own individual learning.

Working alongside a small group of peers helps them see how others are learning and gives them the opportunity to help each other out.

It is amazing to see how quickly children pick up what they are learning and watch as they are so proud of their accomplishments.
